Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi now open for business

THE Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi, the latest five-star property in the UAE capital, has opened its doors and is targeting the business and conference traveller.

Speaking to TTN, director of sales and marketing Stefan van der Kruyf said: “The Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi will be a major boost for the business and conference market in the UAE capital.”

Located in the heart of Abu Dhabi and in close proximity to the airport, the corniche and Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (Adnec), the hotel offers the very latest technology in its rooms and conference centre, a choice of dining options and an array of leisure facilities.

The iconic 37-storey building has 402 luxurious hotel bedrooms and 132 deluxe serviced apartments.

Currently, the hotel is offering attractive summer packages for guests before reshuffling rates for the last quarter of the year. Online booking are now open with guests being able to benefit from introductory rates for a deluxe room including breakfast from Dh488 ($132) per night. The offer runs till August 2013.

The launch was “tremendous achievement” by everyone involved, says van der Kruyf. “Since the soft opening on May 1, we’ve invited corporate clients who have given us very positive feedback,” he said, adding that although occupancies would be a challenging in the medium term, he was “confident for the future”.

Over the summer, van der Kruyf expects guests from across the region and also hopes to attract visitors from China, France, Germany, the UK and Australia.

Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi blends modern architecture with traditional Arabian and Asian flavours and boasts of the third largest hotel atrium in the world.

Its food and beverage options include Benjarong, the Thai restaurant; Capital Grill, the bistro; Urban Kitchen, the venue for buffets; Dusit Gourmet, featuring a selection of sandwiches, pastries and petit fours; and the Orchid, a contemporary lounge.

Its spacious convention centre with a variety of function rooms can host up to 2,000 people and includes the 785-sq-m Onyx Ballroom which is fully equipped to handle all types of events, conferences, exhibitions, meetings, banquets, weddings or social events. Another highlight is its glass-panelled Skydome, spaning 2,000 sq m and covering one of the largest dedicated pre-function foyers in the region, across two floors with ample natural daylight.

The property also offers recreational facilities including DFiT, a fully-equipped fitness centre, and the Namm Spa.
