BAKU’S first international luxury resort Jumeriah Bilgah Beach Hotel located in Bilgah on the Eastern edge of Baku on the Caspian Sea and set alongside a 300-m private beach. Although the hotel is not in the city centre, it is only 25 minutes away, making it the ideal choice for business and leisure guests alike.
The area of Bilgah is famous for its ‘healing air’ and has become home to many medical recreational facilities over the years. In the last few years, the district of Bilgah has developed into one of the most prestigious private residential areas of Baku and its suburbs.
As you walk in to the hotel, you are sure to be amazed at the design features of this grand lobby. Palatial light features, walls decorated design pieces made of metal and hand blown glass as well as the gold and silver-plated, 58-m grand chandelier with 72,000 LED lights, being a few!
Check-in was amazingly quick and efficient considering our group of 10 arrived at 10 pm (about three hours later than we were expected!) and staff welcoming and friendly. All 176 rooms and suites at this resort are sea-facing and decorated in lush, contemporary design and equipped with the latest in-room technology. The resort also offers 14 duplex, three bedroom cottages.
With nine dining outlets, guests are easily spoilt for choice. From the all-day dining Uzuk, Yuukai, the contemporary Asian restaurant and bar, seasonal Pier Grill set out over the water, Piano Lounge for light lunch and afternoon tea, T-Café Pool Bar, Promenade Sunset Bar and Lounge; Waterpark Café serving light food like hot dogs and ice-cream stands; Equinox Night Club for contemporary cocktails and The Alley located in the bowling alley serving international snacks. The property also has its own waterpark, one of the largest in the area with daredevil slides as well as relaxing interconnecting swimming pools. This is open only in the warmer months.
There is also the Jumeriah’s own Talise spa with seven treatment rooms with two additional VIP suites, a Turkish Hammam and a 20 m indoor lap pool. The gym, which I tried out, is equipped with top of the range Technogym equipment. The hotel also offers over 1,500 sq m of meeting and conference facilities and most importantly for business travellers, complimentary wi-fi!
