RAK Airways relaunches with flights to Jeddah and Calicut

RAK Airways, which suspended operations last year due to the financial crisis, will start flying to and from Jeddah and Calicut from October 10 operating four weekly flights with fare offers as low as Dh10 ($2.7).

The airline will offer a 30kg free baggage allowance, free overnight parking, complimentary hot meals and free transportation from all emirates, except Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.

The carrier will use a 737-400 with a single class configuration and aims to break even in the first year.

However, chief executive Omar Janaheh, avoids the designation of a low-cost carrier preferring instead to say that RAK Airways offers ‘big value for the passenger’.

And he added that the company is studying further expansion plans and keeping its options open on the purchasing or lease of new planes.
