SET on its own island – Ile aux Cerfs – the 18-hole, par 72 Le Touessrok Golf Course has been designed by Bernhard Langer and offers a unique golfing experience which arouses all the senses.
From the amazing natural setting to the challenges presented by the course, it promises a game to remember.
The golf course is a boat ride away from Le Touessrok, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, which is the height of cool, modern elegance, imbued with the warmth of tropical Mauritius with its seven restaurants, two private islands, a Givenchy Spa and exceptional service.
The championship course measures 6,476 m from the back tees and the four sets of tee boxes and varying angles of attack and approach provide a stern challenge for the advanced player while still keeping the course playable for the recreational golfer.
Ile aux Cerfs lies off Trou d’Eau Douce in the largest lagoon of Mauritius. The island once belonged to the sugar estate of Beau Rivage and its ruins are the remnants of stables built for cattle breeding.
To protect the environment at Le Touessrok Golf Course, a policy of ‘least disturbance’ has been adopted with the course being carefully routed to accommodate and incorporate the outstanding features of the site including volcanic rock outcrops, specimen trees, existing inland ponds and crabs and mongoose.
Sited on the highest point on the island and overlooking the 18th hole is the clubhouse, which bears the same architectural theme as that of Le Touessrok and includes a fully-stocked professional golf shop, locker room facilities, lounge, 68-seater restaurant and casual bar with 180-degree views of the course, the mountain backdrop and surrounding ocean.
For those who feel their game might need some fine-tuning, there is Le Touessrok Golf Academy and practice area with five target greens, as well as putting and chipping greens. IMG Golf Course Management, leader in worldwide golf resort management, has been retained to ensure that the Le Touessrok experience extends to the course.
