The First Arte gets a makeover

The First Arte offers an eclectic selection of art and installations found around the property

The First Arte by Pavilions Hotels and Resorts, a boutique property in Rome, is undergoing a transformation and will be ready for sampling in early April.

Together, The First Musica, The First Dolce and The First Arte are part of The First Roma by The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts, a unique deconstructed ‘urban resort’ experience that takes guests on a sensational journey of sights, tastes and sounds: a unique manner in which to experience the Eternal City this Eid.

Speaking of the ongoing renovation, Barbara Anklin, Business Director for The First Hotels, tells TTN, “We need to refurbish because we want to be really up to date but what will stay is that our rooms will still remain very homey.”

All 29 rooms of The First Arte are being refurbished, as are the entrance, lobby and reception area. The hotel’s restaurants, the two-Michelin starred Acquolina and Acquaroof, will be open except after undergoing renovations too.

Pavilions Hotels and Resorts has three properties in Rome: The First Arte, The First Musica and The First Dolce. “The idea is really to create a kind of urban resort. Because we have small boutique hotels so maybe we don’t have everything in one hotel, but between the three we have everything from roof terraces, gastronomic experiences and a spa,” she says. When a person checks in at one of the The First Hotels, they can use the facilities of all three.

From the delicious desserts of The First Dolce’s VELO restaurant and Chef Daniele Lippi’s famous tasting menu at The First Arte’s two Michelin-starred Acquolina; to the impressive collection of artworks exhibited at The First Arte; to the beautiful music filling the rooms and social spaces at The First Musica, guests are welcome to discover and enjoy different twists of The First Roma lifestyle at each of the three hotels.

The First Arte is located in the heart of Rome, just a short walk from The Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo, Via del Corso and Via del Babuino. At this hotel, work by Italian artists, which is selected by Rome’s Galleria Mucciaccia, is displayed in common areas.

The First Dolce, which was inaugurated in April 2019 in a historic building from the nineteenth century designed by Giuseppe Valadier, meanwhile is located in Via del Corso.

The First Musica features 24 rooms and suites – all with floor-to-ceiling windows, most of them overlooking the Tiber River and the old centre of Rome. “We will also be adding a spa [at The First Musica] – but that will be complete by the end of the year,” Anklin informs us. Pavilions Hotels and Resorts also has another hotel lined up, which will be ready in Cortina d’Ampezzo in time for the Olympic Games in 2026, TTN learns.

“It’s a stunning project. It’s an existing hotel at the moment that has been closed for a couple of years. The architect is constructing a whole thing around to create all 63 rooms with balconies. There will be a beautiful panoramic restaurant with a look to the mountains. There will be a nice spa with an outdoor swimming pool,” she adds.
