Turkish Airlines has rolled out a specially designed A321 aircraft with a livery of the ‘Trojan Horse’ after the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Turkey announced 2018 as “The Year of Troia”.

This aircraft, which will contribute to the promotion of “The Year of Troia” through its worldwide flights, was introduced to the press today at a special event in the new hangar of Turkish Technic Inc.. Present at the event was M. İlker Aycı, Turkish Airlines chairman of the board and the executive committee, and Orhan Tavlı, the governor of Çanakkale Province.

“As the flag carrier airline of Turkey, we place great importance on promoting our country and our values. The Trojan, which dates back to 3000 BC, is one of the unique civilizations of Anatolia with its history that was the subject of many epics. We’re honoured to contribute to the introduction of “Troia” with our Troia themed aircraft at many worldwide destinations that we serve. We’re inviting the global community to see "Troia”, and to our fascinating country which hosts many more epics such as “Troia” in its rich history.” said Aycı in his speech at the launch ceremony.

“Troia, which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1998, is one of the most important ancient buildings in the world. The protection of this magnificent archaeological value, which constitutes one of the most fundamental building blocks of this unique geography that we live on, will continue with the conscious approach of us and our future generations. I would like to thank Turkish Airlines, who will make a great contribution to the promotion of Troy at every worldwide destination that it will reach with this aircraft, specially designed with the “Troia” theme,” said Tavlı.

Located near the village of Tevfikiye in the province of Çanakkale, Troy is one of the most famous ancient cities in the world. Anatolia has always played a very important role in terms of commercial and cultural connections with other regions due to its unique location on the geography of the Aegean and Balkans. Troy, which had been destroyed and rebuilt nine times for various reasons, is regarded as a reference for other archaeological sites both in Europe and Aegean with its 3,000 year history and excavations are still being carried out in this magnificent archaeological city. - TradeArabia News Service
