The Metropolitan resort ... new look and better facilities.

The Metropolitan Resort and Beach Club in Dubai has a total new look.

The resort says it has undertaken a major upgrade to bring the property in line with five-star hotels on Dubai's prestigious Jumeirah Beach.

The renovation work undertaken this past summer aims to not only improve the overall look of the resort but also upgrade facilities and standards throughout the property, says general manager Sanjay Luthra.

The programme involved refurbishment for all guestrooms, public and reception areas, swimming pool and changing rooms, business centre, restaurants and bars, gym club and the gift shop.

Luthra said the resort had completed the renovation work on its Abu Dhabi and Dubai wings and work on the last Jumeirah wing was set to complete shortly.

All rooms now have parquet flooring, a small parlour and new decor including wallpaper and furnishings.

The business centre has been renovated with lounge-style seating; the gym has new flooring and equipment and the hotel is opening a kitchen called "Satellite Kitchen" by the beach bar.

Luthra said the leisure facilities at the resort include a recreation centre, squash and tennis courts, sauna and steam bath for men and women, Jacuzzi as well as a private beach.

He said the hotel has creative special itineraries and activities for families.

Luthra said people now relate a holiday on a beach resort with spa and leisure facilities as part of the growing quest for better value for money and pampering.

"The guest in a leisure resort looks for a complete holiday to unwind and enjoy the weather in particular because most of the time that they stay at the resort is spent outdoors," he said.

He said the hotel has recorded 85 per cent occupancy during the past year and was looking forward to enhancing its market share.
