Kuwait aims to lure visitors from Egypt as well as neighbouring Gulf countries with its first ever presence at the Mediterranean Travel Fair in Cairo this month.
The Kuwait Tourism Services Company (KTSC) is spearheading the country's maiden presence at the MTF with a team representing the recently formed tourism board as well as all the five-star hotels.
KTSC executive director Mohamed A Najia said the company will be promoting the various tourism sites in the country which are getting a facelift as part of the government's effort to boost the sector as a major revenue earner.
He said KTSC hopes that presence at the MTF "will increase the flow of tourism from either Egypt or other Gulf countries".
KTSC, the first inbound tour operator in Kuwait, has recently introduced a mini-break package offering attractive accommodation options in the country's three, four and five-star hotels.
The company is optimistic that the recent establishment of the tourism board and new hotel developments are certain to boost tourism.
Kuwait has seen an increase in the number of tourists arriving in the country following the introduction of electronic visas for visitors from certain countries.
The country was also developing and increasing leisure facilities. New hotels in the pipeline in the country will further promote tourism growth, said Najia.
The new Hilton Kuwait Resort added 150 rooms and 150 chalets to the country's hotel sector while other new openings include the Courtyard Marriott with 320 rooms and the Four Points Sheraton with 150 rooms and a Kempinski resort which is slated for spring next year.
KTSC which was established in 1997 provides exclusive tours, tour packages and ground services with an experienced and professional team assisted by dedicated multi-lingual tour guides, field representatives, supportive staff and marketing staff.
The company was set up by Kuwait Airways, Kuwait Hotel Owners Association and the Touristic Enterprises Company.
