'Unspoilt jewel' of Mediterranean

Share

A stone's throw from the coast of Turkey and in close proximity to Syria and Egypt is North Cyprus, the "unspoilt jewel" of the Mediterranean.

Sun, sea and the scent of pine and flowers captures the spirit of North Cyprus. And its ancient history is reflected in the myriads of culture and religions that have left their mark on the island.

The island lies in the clear blue waters of the Eastern Mediterranean, just 40 miles off the cost of Turkey, 60 miles from Syria and 250 miles from Egypt.

It enjoys one of the most pleasant climates in the world; winters are short and warm, and the weather is always predictable. In these idyllic surroundings it is possible to sunbathe and swim in the sea almost every day. Cyprus is also renowned for its wild flowers which carpet the island in spring (there are more than 38 species of orchids alone) and the scent of orange, lemon and grapefruit blossom fills the air.

The coastline of North Cyprus offers some of the finest and safest bathing in the Mediterranean.

Although most holiday establishments have modern pools, the crystal clear waters of the eastern Mediterranean are wonderful for swimming, snorkeling, sailing and skiing. Most of the holiday complexes are situated near the picturesque ancient port of Kyrenia on the north coast, or Famagusta in the east.

The exotic cuisine of Northern Cyprus reflects its history and maritime associations.

The charms of Northern Cyprus will be on show at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai. Check them out at Stand number 123 at Hall 3, Europe and the Americas.
