Swissair has opened its new UAE headquarters at the Al Yamamah Tower on Dubai's Al Maktoum street.
The airline has relocated 17 employees to the new office, which houses Swissair's reservations centre, district and business sales, and the UAE, Bahrain and Qatar marketing and administration departments. The opening ceremony was attended by Khalid bin Sulayem, director general of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Marketing (DTCM), Rashid Al Noori, senior general manager of DNATA Agencies, and Jean-Claude Hagmann, the Swiss consul general. "This new office represents our strong commitment to the region and our belief that the region and Dubai in particular is a destination which offers strategic business and tourism importance for Swissair," said Felix Rodel, Swissair area manager for Arabian Gulf. The DTCM plans to open an office in Zurich early next year, reflecting the growing tourism relationship between the two countries, Bin Sulayem said.
