THE Gulf Hotel’s profile upon the Bahrain skyline first appeared in 1967, when it became the first five star hotel in the kingdom.
Some 40 years on, the property has benefited from a multi-million dinar refurbishment.
“I think it is true to say that the Gulf Hotel has a special place in the affections of its thousands of guests,” says general manager Clive Webster. “We have been around a long time, but I believe that the remodelling has done everything to enhance the charm and high style for which it is known.”
Set on an intersection on one of Manama’s major highways, the Gulf Hotel is just 10 minutes from the city centre and the Financial Harbour district, and no more than 20 minutes from the international airport, and the Seef shopping malls.
There are 357 rooms including 38 deluxe rooms, plus the hotel offers eight themed restaurants and five cafés and bars, each with its own individual character.
In the secluded landscaped grounds is a lagoon style swimming pool, with access to the newly re-vamped health and recreation club with two fully equipped gyms, squash and tennis courts.
The Gulf Executive Residence comprises 97 apartments fitted out to luxury standards and with access to all the hotel amenities.
