Ireland promotes itself in the UAE


The Dubai Irish Festival, a new event from 21-27 January 2008, will start off Ireland’s campaign to increase trade and consumer awareness of the Emerald Isle, says Aiveen Ryan, Tourism Ireland account manager.

“This will showcase many Irish music and cultural acts across various locations in the UAE. Another important initiative will be the opening of the Irish Embassy in Abu Dhabi,” she said. They will also be organising a trade mission to promote Ireland in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
Middle Eastern visitor numbers to Ireland for 2007 were around 6000, the most appealing aspect of Ireland  to them being its cool climate, warm welcoming people, natural scenery, history and culture, cosmopolitan city of Dublin, plus its festivals, golf and equestrian activities.
“Ireland is a very attractive European destination to sell. However in the past it is not one that was heavily promoted possibly due to the lack of awareness. Now with the direct access with Aer Lingus and Etihad, our message to agents would be that they now have a new, unique and attractive alternative European destination to sell to their clients,” said Ryan.
Tourism Ireland launched its first  ever dual Arabic and English website especially designed for the Middle East market. The new website,  will allow users to locate visa details, location of mosques, restaurants serving Hahal meals and other useful information.
