Barnes appointed at Fairmont Hotels
The Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in Europe, Africa and the Middle East has named Philip M Barnes as regional vice president, Middle East and general manager, Palm Island for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Barnes first joined the group in 1998.
Musch joins Miramar Al Aqah
The Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort has appointed Alexander Musch as the resident manager for its new property opening this month in Fujairah. He was previously operation manager of the Hilton Ras Al Khaimah and has significant European experience.
Schulze for Millennium Towers, Dubai
Sandra J Schulze has been appointed as marcomms and public relations manager at the Millennium Towers Hotel Dubai. She joins the pre-opening team of the five-star hotel, set to open at the end of the year. She moves from the Renaissance Dubai Hotel.
New HR Director at Emirates Palace
Emirates Palace has appointed Carey White as its new director of human resources. He moves from The Pacific International Hotel Management School in New Zealand, where he was vice principal. He has previously worked at hotels in Australia and Micronesia.
Dubai Airports appoints CEO
Dubai Airports has named Paul Griffiths its first CEO. Formerly managing director of BAA’s London Gat-wick Airport, he also spent 14 years as an executive director of Virgin Group, working to develop both Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Rail.
Geruschkat takes charge in Amman
Benno Geruschkat has been appointed general manager at the Grand Hyatt Amman.
He started his career at the Hyatt Regency Cologne as a cook apprentice. In 2001 he joined Hyatt International as general manager at the Hyatt Regency Mainz.
Phillips moves to The Fairmont Dubai
Raki Phillips has been appointed as area dir-ector of sales and mar-keting, The Fairmont Dubai. He will oversee The Fairmont Dubai and new Fairmont UAE properties, including Abu Dhabi, The Palm Jumeirah and Fujariah. He moves from The Ritz-Carlton, Doha.
New COO for IHG MEA
The InterContinental Hotels Group has named John Bamsey its chief operating officer for the Middle East and Africa, in Dubai. Previously COO UK & Ireland, Bamsey has been with IHG since 2001 and has more than 12 years of senior management experience.
Spa news at Diplomat Radisson SAS
The Diplomat Radisson SAS Bahrain has appointed Vilaiporn Poonsawatt as its new spa manager for the soon to be opened The Diplomat Spa. She was previously with the Sivalai Spa at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club in Thailand.

Sallam to sell Four Seasons Alex
The Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano has appointed Ayman Sallam as its new director of sales. Prior to his new position, Ayman spent four years working as director of sales at the Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Hotels in Kuwait.
Lugt appointed at Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain
Michiel Lugt has been appointed the new assistant F&B director at the Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa. He moves from the Peter Island Resort, British Virgin Islands. He has also worked at the Grand Hotel & Spa in Rodina Sochi, Russia.
Sheraton Doha appoints new chef
The Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel has announced the appointment of Armin Brandtner as its executive chef.
Brandtner moves from the Moevenpick Hotel Bur Dubai. In his new role, Brandtner will oversee all the food outlets at the hotel.
