Bahrain to get $48m Rotana

A new BD18 million ($48 million) hotel is due to be built in the central market area of Bahrain’s capital Manama and is to be managed by Rotana Hotels, according to a report in the Gulf Daily News.

The four-star hotel is the latest venture of the Banader Hotels Company and construction is due to get underway in the first quarter of next year. Sited near Bab Al Bahrain, Manama, it is due to be completed in 2009 and will consist of 270 bedrooms and suites, in addition to 140 furnished apartments, restaurants and a car park.
“The hotel is expected to be a landmark - the building will be an extraordinary, beautiful one,” said company secretary Abdulla Abdulrahman.
Rotana Hotels will manage the hotel, which is being designed by Mohammed Salahuddin Construction and Engineering Bureau (MSCEB) and will be located opposite the Bahrain Financial Harbour.
The concept designs are due to be presented to the Banader Hotels Company board in the next few days, but are expected to take around nine months to complete.
“This project meets the demands of the growing tourism industry, especially for four-star hotels located in the heart of the city,” added Abdulrahman. Nassar Engineering Services have been appointed as the project manager.
Rotana recently announced the inauguration of three new outbound sales offices in India, Cairo and Dubai with Amman coming up in October this year.
The company has a stated expansion plan to grow to 42 hotels by 2008, including 21 properties already in operation. The  bringing Rotana Hotels’ portfolio to 42 properties by 2008.
