Emirates brings Japan closer

EMIRATES is set to launch non-stop services to Nagoya, its second destination in Japan, on June 1. Starting four times a week, the service will escalate to a daily flight from July 1.

Said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Emirates, “Trade and tourism ties between the Middle East and Japan are flourishing. Our new service has been designed to provide executives and tourists from Japan convenient connections to the EMEA region.”
From June 1 this year, EK 314 will fly non-stop every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 0225 hours from Dubai to arrive at Nagoya’s Central Japan International Airport (Centrair) at 1720 hrs. EK 315 will return on the same day at 2330 hrs to arrive in Dubai at 0530 hrs the next morning. The route will be operated by wide-bodied Boeing 777-200 aircraft, with 290 seats in a three-class configuration.
From September 1, the route will be served by the new Airbus A340-500 aircraft operating on the same schedules.

Straight to KolkatTa
The airline will make a stop closer home before then, however. From March 26, Emirates launches six weekly flights to Kolkatta, the capital of India’s West Bengal state. An Airbus A330-200 will service the route in three and two-class configurations.
The announcement follows its recent decision to fly into the South Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram, and increasing its flights to Cochin and Chennai from February 1, 2006. Said Sheikh Ahmed, “The start of Emirates flights to Kolkatta is one more important milestone in the history of our Indian operations, as it signifies our entry in North East India.”
