Global first

BAHRAIN has become the first country outside Europe to be declared as a world-class training centre for aircraft engineers up to a level that includes the new Super Jumbo Airbus that is still to be launched.

Bahrain Airport Services Engineering Training Centre has made history with a stamp of approval certificate – the EASA IR Part 147 – from the European Aviation Safety Agency based in Brussels, Belgium, meaning all its licences issued and courses will be globally recognised.
The centre – a division of BAS – now expects a substantial number of applications for places from regional and international airlines with each of its three classrooms able to accommodate 12 engineers.
This is in addition to the BAS customer-training facilities offering tailormade tuition to suit any airline’s requirements. It is unusual for a country to win such approval for it is normally granted to airlines rather than ground-handling organisations.
