Al Mahara picks up award
DUBAI: Burj Al Arab’s signature restaurant Al Mahara was recently voted amongst the top 10 best hotel restaurants in the world by the US-based magazine Hotels.

Hotels is the magazine of the worldwide hotel industry based in the USA and the award for ‘Great Hotel Restaurants’ was organised in conjunction with Villeroy & Boch.
It is the 14th time the magazine has honoured hotel restaurants that set the standards of excellence.
Face to face with DTCM
DUBAI: As part of its ongoing campaign to create new business opportunities, the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is organising a series of Dubai ‘Face-to-Face’ workshops at The Westin, Dublin; at The Lowry, Manchester and at The Carlton Tower, London. 
Twenty-eight Dubai-based suppliers - an airline, hoteliers and ground handlers - will be joining the DTCM to promote Dubai as a sophisticated, all-purpose and year-round destination for leisure and business travellers.
Emaar wows German media
DUBAI: Emaar Properties introduced its key developments to a delegation of German media and tourism industry representatives.
The company’s involvement formed part of an annual destination workshop, which was organised by FVW, a major travel magazine in Germany. The event was sponsored by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and is part of an ongoing effort to promote Dubai as a top class tourism destination and create increased awareness of the emirate’s key attractions.
“Dubai’s reputation as a tourism, leisure and business destination is unrivalled and Emaar is contributing to developing and enhancing that reputation. By offering freehold property investment in Dubai, Emaar is allowing people from around the world to make Dubai a home base or a permanent holiday destination. It is important to highlight this to global key markets such as Germany,” said Mansour Al Othaimin, corporate director, Sales and Marketing, Emaar.
Bridging the ‘Gap’
LONDON: As the ‘Gap Year’ phenomenon becomes a popular part of growing up, World Travel Market is launching a Youth Pavilion, in association with The British Educational Travel Association (BETA).
More than 20 companies involved with youth and student tourism will be represented at World Travel Market (November 10-13, ExCeL, London, UK).
Young people now account for an estimated 17 per cent of all international trips, demonstrating the importance of youth tourism.

Music hits Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI: The world traveled Leesa Gentz Band, who hail from Australia, have arrived at the Harvesters Pub at the Sands Hotel Abu Dhabi.
They promise to please the Abu Dhabi society with their faultless musicianship. Their wide range of music from high-energy dance to funk, disco, soul will be sure to appeal to all tastes.
They have played to international 5-star hotel audiences as well as to the well to do cruises and pubs. They perform at the Harvesters Pub at the Sands Hotel every night from Monday to Saturday.
