Resort is perfect training ground

Behind the scenes, a monumental undertaking is under way as employees from 49 countries are in orientation and training to serve in this five-star deluxe grand boutique hotel - an evocation of old Dubai comprising 288 guestrooms, 12 suites, three fine-dining restaurants and extensive conference and banqueting facilities.

The Orientation Programme, referred to by John Pelling, general manager of Mina A’ Salam as “a Jumeirah International tradition”, is a course designed not only to enable new colleagues to get to know one another, but also to get to know the colleagues of the other Jumeirah International properties. The managing director and his corporate team as well as the general managers of the Jumeirah International hotels personally welcome each and every new member of staff. In addition, the programme has also been developed to help ensure that those new to Dubai understand its history, traditions and customs.

The training programme, developed in conjunction with hotel and business management training specialists, is a three-month programme consisting of modules, each of which focuses on individual aspects of hotel service excellence.

New recruits work with training managers across those modules designed for their particular scope of work.
