Arab families looking to entertain children this summer can take advantage of a new first-of-its-kind initiative - Jordan Summer Camps - a joint programme by the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) and the Jordan Hotel Association.
Marwan Khoury, managing director of the JTB said, "This is a completely new concept for the region - we are the first to introduce this. We wanted to take the hassle out of holiday planning. Arab families who are looking to holiday in Jordan, can send their children to any one of the summer camps knowing that they will be well taken care of." Running until September 11, children aged nine to 17 can choose from four different camp themes - leisure, adventure and computer, as well as a special programme for kids with special needs. With the option of two or three-week programmes, the kids will be based in Amman taking in day trips to many of Jordan's scenic hot spots. "Furthermore, if parents are not travelling to Jordan, we will take care of the children right through from arrival at the airport to departure. The programmes are designed to give children an unforgettable summer experience," added Khoury. The Leisure Camp offers a combination of sports, amusement games, entertainment and site tours, while the more challenging can opt for the Adventure Camp which as the name suggests, provides adventure and exploration tours on land and by sea. Children looking to develop their IT skills in a fun, exciting way will enjoy the Computer Camp. Meanwhile, the JTB will also take care of children with special needs offering a range of entertainment, educational and cultural activities.
