Madinat set to open next year

The Dubai-based Jumeirah International will have the full updated model of its latest resort development, Madinat Jumeirah, at its stand at the WTM 2002.

In addition to the model the group will be introducing its new line of collateral/brochures with a new look and feel, according to Anne Bleeker, assistant director of public relations, Jumeirah International.

The Madinat Jumeirah is currently under construction, of which the first phase - 300-room 5-star hotel Mina Al Salam - is scheduled to open in August 2003.

The importance of an event like WTM is not lost on the group: "The World Travel Market is a great opportunity for the group to showcase new products and developments, to meet up with partners and suppliers and to stay up to date with the latest developments in the travel and tourism industry worldwide," says Bleeker.

The group has been doing well over the last year, and according to Bleeker the group's profit forecasts are above budget expectations.

Bleeker feels that the figures are a direct manifestation of growing confidence in Dubai as a viable tourist and business destination.

"The visit and stay of the England Football team at The Jumeirah Beach Club earlier this year, we believe, has also contributed [to the success]."

Bleeker praised the stand taken by the DTCM in promotong Dubai as a an 'ideal destination'.
