The Hilton International has signed an agreement to manage Saudi Arabia's Makkah Hilton Hotel and Towers, on behalf of its owners, Makkah Construction and Development Company.
Situated in the heart of the city and facing the Holy Mosque, the existing six towers comprise 1,200 serviced apartments, forming two wings of the complex containing the Makkah Hilton. The combined project becomes the largest complex in the world managed by Hilton. A retail complex with 450 stores and a 400-slot car park are also included in the centre. The complex can accommodate 6,000 to 10,000 guests in its 1,852 guest rooms. Jacobus Klein, president, Hilton International, Middle East & Asia Pacific, said the group has been the leading hotel in the city since 1995, and that the addition of the Towers would give it the opportunity to expand into new markets.
