Bhutan declares 2015 as ‘Visit Bhutan Year’

AN UPSCALE 41-room property will be added to Best Western International’s portfolio with the launch of its Bhutan property in mid-2015. The first property of the brand in the Himalayan Kingdom will be located in capital city Thimpu.

This new-build property will join the company’s growing collection of upscale BEST WESTERN PLUS hotels, thus featuring a fitness centre, spa, and a terrace lounge with views.

“We are very excited to become one of the first major international hotel brands to arrive in this incredible country,” says Glenn de Souza, Best Western International’s vice-president of international operations for Asia and Middle East. “Bhutan really is paradise on Earth. Home to breath-taking mountains and glaciers, ancient monasteries, and an incredible variety of rare wildlife, this spiritual country offers an endless array of allures and attractions for lovers of nature and Himalayan culture.

“We are delighted to be able to bring our BEST WESTERN PLUS product to Bhutan, offering an extended range of amenities to the growing number of visitors wanting to explore this fascinating country.”

Best Western’s entry into Bhutan marks yet another milestone in the company’s Asian expansion strategy. Late last year, Best Western entered Myanmar for the first time, and already this year it has made its debut in Sri Lanka.

The opening of this new upscale hotel in Bhutan will extend Best Western’s regional coverage to more than 200 hotels in 24 countries across Asia and the Middle East.
