The clubhouse has undergone major refurbishment to offer updated facilities

WITH golfing gaining popularity in the Middle East and UAE, Abu Dhabi Golf Club recently announced the launch of its newly designed website offering users an enhanced experience and streamlined content.

The most sought information is grouped into six main categories – golf, dining and lifestyle, golf institute, meetings and events, members section and media – and guests can access the website for convenient online tee time reservations, easy-to-navigate food and beverage outlet information, a separate members-only section and to check for the latest promotions and events.

According to Scott McCaw, director of club operations: 'The new website has been re-designed to enrich the experience for our members and guests.'

The redesigned site also offers an extensive image gallery of the picturesque course and clubhouse, a calendar of daily and upcoming events as well as details of corporate and wedding facilities.

There is a dedicated section on the different golf instruction packages and guests can sign up to receive the club’s e-newsletter.

McCaw said 2011 has been a strong year for Abu Dhabi Golf Club adding: 'In the last two years, two more golf courses have come onboard, with the Saadiyat Golf Course and the Yas Links firmly positioning Abu Dhabi as a leading destination for golfers.'

The Abu Dhabi Golf Club re-opened to the public earlier this year following substantial refurbishment, in time for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. The renowned Falcon Clubhouse now features two restaurants and numerous meeting and event facilities. From light fittings to state-of-the-art kitchens, brand new locker rooms, expanded meeting spaces and revamped food and beverage outlets, the clubhouse boasts a brand new look

The club, which is fully owned by Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) and managed by Troon Golf, has long been regarded as one of the finest championship venues on the European PGA Tour and has been showered with praise from the world’s elite professional golfers.

'Golf has definitely become a part of Abu Dhabi’s tourism plan. We are constantly looking to promote the game by developing stay-and-play packages, together with the hotels, and new initiatives like the night golf, which was reintroduced this summer. With night golf, we can offer our guests year-round golf regardless of the weather or hectic pace of work,' said McCaw.

Looking ahead, he stressed that the aim of Abu Dhabi Golf Club is not to just grow bigger but to develop within to also become better.

And he added: 'With the opening of the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa next door later this year, we expect to see a surge in the demand for stay-and-play packages.'

The Westin Abu Dhabi an ‘Urban Oasis’, sits next to the golf course, at the heart of the new Abu Dhabi, bringing unique design features based on natural elements and showcasing the Westin style. With 176 rooms and suites and designed in a contemporary style, the hotel is expected to be a refreshing addition to a city of glass and steel structures and puts the focus back on the outdoors and natural surroundings.
