Travel and tourism offerings from more than 20 countries and Lebanon's major tour companies will be showcased a major industry expo in Beirut this month.

The 7th Arab World Travel and Tourism Exchange (AWTTE 2002) to be held at the Pavillion Martyrs Square in Beirut Central District from April 11-14 will bring together industry professionals from the region and beyond.

AWTTE 2002 will create opportunities to promote and exchange tourism services between Lebanon, the Middle East, and the rest of the world, says International Fairs and Promotions (IFP) which is organising the event in collaboration with the Lebanese tourism ministry.

"International travel agencies, tour operators, national tourism boards, resorts, hotels, airlines, cruise lines, convention and incentive tour operators and others will converge and expand their business to Middle Eastern travellers, who are renowned in the travel industry as among the world's highest per capita spenders and frequent travellers," said IFP.

The hosted buyers program, which will host a record number of industry professionals from around the world and help organise individual appointments, will ensure business development and exchange opportunities, it said.

The Lebanese tourism ministry will lead a Lebanese pavilion, featuring the widespread opportunities in Lebanon-bound packaged tours, multi-regional tours and tourist project developments.

Similar offerings will be presented also by national tourism organisations of Cuba, France, Cyprus, Malaysia, Morocco, Syria, Jordan, UAE, India, Iraq, Tunisia, Turkey and Egypt.
