Luxury hotel group Hilton International has announced plans to open a new resort hotel in Kuwait by the end of this month, bringing the total number of Hilton properties in the Gulf to 14.

Offering extensive business and recreational facilities, the sea-front resort nestles among 250,000 sq m of private beach and gardens. The luxurious resort has been designed as a focal point for the country's growing tourist industry.

Located 15 minutes from Kuwait city centre and five minutes from the international airport, the new hotel is targeted at both the corporate and leisure markets, a Hilton statement said.

Complementing the main 147-room hotel, guests can choose from 80 two-bedroom chalets situated along the beachfront, together with an additional 62 self-contained studios fitted with kitchenette for long-term accommodation.

Built on one of the longest private beaches in Kuwait, stretching for 1.7 kilometres, the property's outdoor activities include a Hiltonia Beach Club encompassing two outdoor swimming pools, a scuba diving centre and various water-sports facilities.

In addition, a fitness centre, offering aerobics classes, and a 3km jogging and walking track has been created within the grounds.

For the first time in the country, a unique Aquamedic Spa will be equipped with a thalassotherapy pool offering specialised massage and hydrotherapy treatments. Synonymous with the Hilton brand throughout the world, the hotel's conference and banqueting facilities will offer state-of-the-art equipment.

The Hilton Meetings facilities include eight meeting rooms, a dedicated 24-hour business centre, conference facilities, and executive room amenities in all hotel rooms. For corporate events or banquets, the lavishly appointed ballroom will cater for up to 1,000 people.

Elsewhere in the hotel, guests can choose from a variety of six international restaurants including the world-renowned Blue Elephant restaurant, which will be serving the very best in South East Asian delicacies for the first time in Kuwait.

Other international outlets include the popular Pizza Express offering Italian food, and the coffee giant Starbucks. In addition, guests can sample international or Mediterranean cuisine at Teatro, Middle Eastern dishes and shisha in the Courtyard, or drinks and snacks in the Songbird cafŽ or Wavebreaker poolside bar.

Meanwhile, Hilton International has extended its latest Middle East promotion until April 30, providing guests with up to three nights free at a choice of 19 Hilton hotels in the region.

Known as "Hilton for Free - Arabian Specials", the promotion offers rates from as low as Dh350 ($95) per night and gives every guest the opportunity to take advantage of one night free for every two nights booked, two nights free for every three nights booked and three nights free for every four nights booked.

In addition, members of Hilton's loyalty programme, Hilton HHonors, will receive 1,000 Hilton HHonors points and 500 additional partner airline miles per stay.

Hilton International currently operates eight hotels in the UAE, three in Saudi Arabia and one each in Bahrain and Oman.
