Saudi Arabia is experiencing a significant surge in domestic tourism ahead of the upcoming National Day, with travel platform Wego reporting a 42% spike in domestic flight searches and a 62% increase in hotel searches year-on-year.
According to the travel marketplace, Jeddah emerged
as the top-searched destination for domestic flights, followed by Madinah,
Riyadh, Dammam, and Abha.
Regional interest proved particularly strong in
Taif and Tabuk, which saw flight searches jump 91% and 56%, respectively.
For accommodations, Makkah led overall demand,
while Al Khobar recorded the most dramatic growth, with hotel searches more
than tripling.
Data indicates that residents are planning
short getaways, favoring an average trip duration of two nights and booking
roughly 10 days in advance.
Mamoun Hmidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego,
noted that the data reflects a growing appetite for diverse experiences across
the Kingdom.
"Travellers are exploring the Kingdom in
different ways, whether through its major cities, heritage destinations,
mountain landscapes, or coastal experiences," Hmidan said.
From the historical depth of Riyadh and Diriyah
to the mountain escapes of Abha and Taif, and the coastal views of Jeddah and
Tabuk, travellers have access to a wide array of options.
The holiday period will also feature cultural
programs, live performances, and family events nationwide.
Officials encourage travellers to consult official channels for event schedules as they finalize their short-break itineraries. -TradeArabia News Service
