Gulf Air plans direct Kuala Lumpur flights ahead of Bahrain Grand Prix

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, said it plans to launch direct flights to Kuala Lumpur after Formula One and the FIA confirmed that the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix will be held at Malaysia's Sepang International Circuit from October 2 to 4.

As the title sponsor of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, Gulf Air, while lauding the South East Asian country for agreeing to host of the mega race, said it aims to introduce direct flights to Kuala Lumpur, further strengthening air connectivity between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Malaysia while offering motorsports fans and passengers a seamless gateway to experience the excitement of the 2026 FORMULA 1 GULF AIR BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX.

The Bahraini flag-carrier said its partnership with Formula 1 dates back to the first Grand Prix in the Arabian Gulf region in 2004, reflecting the strength and continuity of that relationship.

The new route would strengthen air links between Bahrain and Malaysia while providing motorsport fans with direct access to the race, said a spokesman for the national airline.

As title sponsor of the race, Gulf Air remains proud to stand behind the event and bring the Kingdom of Bahrain’s hospitality to Malaysia, he added.

Established in 1950, Gulf Air was the first national carrier in the GCC. Today, it operates to more than 50 destinations across the GCC, Asia, Europe, America, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. 

Gulf Air has been recognized as a “Five-Star Major Airline” by APEX for the year 2026, and its fleet comprises 10 Boeing 787 aircraft and 34 Airbus A320/321 aircraft.-TradeArabia News Service
