New GM at Anantara Qasr Al Sarab  
Minor Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Didier Tourneboeuf as general manager of the new Anantara Qasr Al Sarab Resort & Spa, Abu Dhabi. Didier joins Anantara Qasr Al Sarab from his position as general manager of Le Royal Méridien, Abu Dhabi where he was responsible for a considerable increase of market share over a two year period.

Promotion for Brown 
Thatcher Brown makes an internal move to the new position of vice president, brand strategy and management of the Jumeirah Group. Brown has been director of sales and marketing in Jumeirah Essex House since 2006. He has also worked in the USA, Canada, Spain and the UK for companies including Fairmont and Condé Nast Publishing.

Minor International announces MD
Minor International has announced the appointment of Naim Maadad as the new managing director of Minor Spas Global, and Hotels Middle East. In this new role, Maadad will take the overall leadership role for MSpa International, Asia’s leading spa management company. Maadad joins from Six Senses Resorts & Spas, where he was the managing director Middle East.

New MENA director for Rezidor
The Rezidor Hotel Group has appointed Yigit Sezgin as regional director of sales and marketing for MENA. Prior to his new role, Sezgin held a number of sales and marketing positions throughout the region including in the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain. He oversaw the re-branding of the Radisson SAS, Hotel Dubai Deira Creek from its former operator, InterContinental.

MEA, Dubai Creek appoints Jacob
Sabreena Jacob has been appointed as the new hotel manager of the Marriott Executive Apartments Dubai Creek. Jacob was formerly the director of room operations in charge of front office, housekeeping and laundry for the JW Marriott Hotel, Cairo, Egypt. She has worked various hotels in Egypt and India, including the Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh, Hurghada, and The Rajvilas, India.

Promotion for Sallam
Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria has promoted Ayman Sallam as its new director of sales and marketing. Sallam started his career in Saudi Arabia with the Holiday Inn, Yanbu. He later became worldwide sales manager for the InterContinental Hotels Group, before returning as director of sales for Crown Plaza and Holiday Inn Hotels in Kuwait.

Alvaro joins Radisson in Media City 
Radisson SAS Hotel Dubai Media City has appointed Julia Alvaro as director sales and marketing. Prior to this, Alvaro was director of sales at Accor’s Novotel an Ibis properties located at the World Trade Centre Dubai. She will also oversee the property’s marketing programmes, in addition to leading the sales team.

Pande joins The Address Hotels
The Address Hotels & Resorts has appointed Seema Pande as area director of sales and marketing. Pande joins The Address Hotels and  Resorts from The Southern Suns Hotels, where she was director of sales and marketing. She was earlier director of sales at The Fairmont Dubai, and handled a similar role with The Metropolitan Palace hotel.

Cucos joins Towers Rotana
Towers Rotana Dubai has recently appointed Nicoleta Cucos as the new director of human resources. Holding a master’s degree in psychology studies from Trinity College of Dublin along with a Higher National Diploma in hotel, catering and institutional management from Ballyfermot College Dublin, Cucos has been in the hospitality field for almost 10 years.

New appointments at Marriott Group
Sayed Haggag (right) has been appointed as director of human resources for the Renaissance, Courtyard and Marriott Executive Apartments Doha City Centre. Recently he was the director of human resources at the Renaissance Dubai Hotel, as well as at the Renaissance Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Mohammed Belal joins as director of engineering for the group.

Brooks joins Ibis Al Barsha
Ibis, Novotel Hotels Al Barsha recently appointed Sarah Brooks as director of human resources. Brooks brings with her seven years of international experience in HR and training. In her new position she will be instrumental in ensuring that all new recruits meet the demands for each position and create a dynamic team.

JW Marriott appoints new personnel
Kathleen Stuck (right) has been appointed resident manager and Kevin Wills as F&B director at the JW Marriott Dubai. Stuck was previously director of rooms at the Raffles Dubai. Wills brings with him extensive international experience. He worked in F&B at the Wailea Marriott Resort and Spa, Hawaii and the MGM Mirage, Beau Rivage, Biloxi Mississippi.

New faces at Steigenberger resort
The Steigenberger Al Dau Resort recently welcomed newly appointed executives. Fathy Bekheit (right) has been appointed director of food and beverage; he moves from the Hyatt Regency Taba Heights. Nagui Nasrallah joins as regional director of human resources, Mahmoud Youssef Mahmoud as central purchasing manager and Elsayed Ahmed Shabaan as executive housekeeper.

New role for Matthew
The Sheraton Dammam Hotel & Towers has appointed Johan Matthew as finance manger. Matthew has previously worked with the Saudi Hotels & Resorts Company as income auditor and served as chief accountant and acting financial controller.  Since 2000 he has been financial controller of Dammam Hotels, the owning company of Sheraton Dammam Hotel & Towers.

Royal Jet appoints Al Mamari
Royal Jet continues to gear up for its fleet expansion and development programme with a change to its senior management team with the appointment of Ahmed Al Mamari as vice president technical. Prior to joining Royal Jet in 2005, he held numerous senior management engineering positions with ADAT (formerly GAMCO) and was most recently director of material management.
