A NEW air service offering twice weekly return flights (every Thursday and Saturday) links Abu Dhabi with Sir Bani Yas Island, phase one of the Desert Islands project. The service is provided by Empire Aviation for the Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the master developer of the Desert Islands project. More flights are soon to be announced. The service can also be chartered as part of the accommodation package offered by Desert Islands Resort and Spa. Operating two eight seater Cessna Caravans, the flight to Sir Bani Yas Island takes about 50 minutes. To mark the launch Desert Islands Resort & Spa operated by Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spas, is offering until March 31 a special weekend package for two. The package includes flights and a two night stay including breakfast and island activities for Dh4,600 per couple plus service charge.
