DCT Abu Dhabi to launch culinary institute

The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has partnered with Le Cordon Bleu, one of the most reputed global culinary education institutes, to open the first-ever Le Cordon Bleu Institute in the UAE on the Emirate’s Saadiyat Island. Launching in the first quarter of 2025, Le Cordon Bleu Abu Dhabi is set to elevate the epicurean scene in the region.

Situated in the heart of Aldar Properties’ The Grove, the state-of-the-art Saadiyat Island campus will attract local and international students aspiring to refine their skills and broaden their horizons within one of the world’s most revered institutions.

His Excellency Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “At DCT Abu Dhabi, we pursue excellence across all our activities by collaborating with world-leading organisations and top talent. This collaboration with the globally renowned Le Cordon Bleu will enable us to redefine culinary education in the region, nurturing creative talent while shaping the future of food to advance the emirate’s status as a hub of diverse gastronomic experiences.”

 

PIF focuses on agritourism and ecotourism

The Public Investment Fund (PIF) has announced the establishment of “Dan Company,” specialising in agritourism and ecotourism. The company plans to develop unique tourism projects around cities across Saudi Arabia with attractive natural and farmed landscapes. Dan aims to involve local communities in providing experiences that allow visitors to fully interact in harmony with distinctive Saudi regional culture and traditions including arts, crafts, local cuisines and culture.

As enablers for local communities, Dan’s projects will also provide Saudi and international visitors with new experiences by granting franchises to farmers and tourist lodge operators that will receive the training and knowledge they need to help them start and build their own facilities.

The company will develop and operate high-end resorts and lodges in partnership with the local community. Dan will establish its first resort in Al-Ahsa as its flagship destination and will feature an eco-resort, an agri-resort and an adventure resort. The project will enhance Saudi cities’ economic contribution to GDP.

 

HBX reveals US as top festive destination

With millions poised to begin the Christmas getaway in the coming days, new data from TravelTech leaders HBX Group has revealed the United States will be the most popular destination for international travel this year. Led by cities including New York and Las Vegas, as well as the family-friendly sights of Orlando, the diversity of the country has proved irresistible to travellers for the second-year running looking to escape for the festive season.

Spain, which has seen bookings rise by 18 per cent when compared to 2022, takes second place in the annual rankings, with Thailand (up 7 per cent), Mexico and France rounding out the top five international travel destinations for Christmas 2023. Italy (up 6 per cent) comes in at sixth, with the United Kingdom at seven, followed by Brazil (up 32 per cent), the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Indonesia.

 

GNTO, visitBerlin plan to attract KSA tourists

Under the esteemed patronage of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Riyadh, the German National Tourist Office (GNTO) and visitBerlin hosted a special event in Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter. The gathering aimed to showcase the allure of Berlin and highlight Germany’s tourism offerings for 2024.

The exclusive event served as a platform to spotlight Berlin’s rich history, vibrant culture, enchanting Christmas markets, and diverse culinary scene, positioning it as a premier destination for global tourism and conventions. In addition to this, recognising the popularity of football in the region, Berlin also promoted the highly anticipated European Championship, which will be held in 2024 across 10 German cities, including Berlin where the final game will be played.

Berlin also emphasised its commitment to welcoming guests from diverse backgrounds, offering Muslim-friendly accommodations and sharing information on where to find halal cuisine.
