Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort announced extremely upbeat business results for its first ever summer season, with average room occupancy during the months of July and August standing at an impressive 80 per cent.

Making this announcement, a senior representative of the hotel said that while beach-side properties in the UAE normally registered a dip in occupancy levels during the summer months, Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort had effectively countered this trend by targeting the large Meetings and Incentive (MICE) market segment, through its state-of-the-art conference centre, which opened early on in the summer.

“The hotel’s conference and banqueting centre is the largest on the East Coast, and has in the past three months already played host to several regional and international conferences for large corporates such as Hewlett Packard, Red Bull and Western Union,” said Patrick Antaki, general manager, Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort.

The state of the art conference facility at the Al Aqah has been specially designed to cater to the growing demand for international standard conferencing facilities in the UAE - from both within and outside the country - with daily delegate packages starting from Dh75 per person.

“During the summer we also launched our highly successful promotion - Midweek Medicine - which had to be extended by a month due to the unprecedented demand, and resulted in a marked rise in weekday occupancy,” added Antaki.

With its idyllic and scenic surroundings, coupled with several world-class wellness, leisure and recreational facilities, including a beauty centre, diving and desert excursions, Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort represents one of the most ideal settings for both leisure and business travellers in the UAE.

“All through the summer, the hotel registered 100 per cent occupancy levels during the weekends, and an average of 70 per cent occupancy during the weekdays. While a significant number of the hotel’s guests were from the UAE - with national families forming a large part - there were also guests came from other GCC countries and Europe.
“We also worked closely with our partners, Cleopatra Beauty Rooms and the Al Boom Diving Centre, in particular to offer guests this summer the best possible packages on spa treatments and dive packages,” he added.

Antaki further added: “Due to the current global situation, there is a trend among residents of the UAE and the region to prefer holidaying closer to home. Le Meridien Al Aqah represents the perfect retreat for the entire family with its unspoilt scenery, virgin coastline and unmatched array of facilities.”

The first international hotel to open in Fujairah in over two decades, the hotel has been instrumental in promoting the East Coast as a formidable tourist destination and has spawned renewed interest in tourism as an economic growth sector for the emirate of Fujairah.

Lauding the continued efforts of the Fujairah Tourism Board (FTB) to promote the tourism industry on the East Coast, Antaki stressed the pivotal role that the industry played in supplementing the efforts of bodies like FTB to create additional demand for Destination Fujairah.
