Last month, Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced a management agreement with wasl Asset Management Group for the development of an Andaz-branded hotel at La Mer. Expected to open in 2020, the 156-key property will become the first Andaz-branded hotel in Dubai and the second Andaz hotel in the UAE, joining Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi. The hotel will offer two restaurants and a rooftop bar and pool area with panoramic views. Meeting facilities, available to guests and locals, will encompass two residential-style studio rooms.

This announcement from Hyatt came hot on the heels of its having completed the previously announced acquisition of Two Roads Hospitality. Hyatt is now present in 23 new markets with management and license agreements for 74 open and operating hotels across North America and Asia, and a robust pipeline of signed management agreements. As part of the acquisition, Hyatt is establishing a new dedicated lifestyle division to combine the operations of Two Roads' and Hyatt's lifestyle brands.

Two Roads' brands are expected to join the World of Hyatt loyalty programme soon, expanding opportunities for World of Hyatt members to earn and redeem points across more leisure-focused stay options and also driving hotel occupancy from a loyal group of travellers who spend more, stay more and book directly.

Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels of the World also announced plans to work together to offer World of Hyatt members the opportunity to earn and redeem points during stays at participating SLH hotels when they book through Hyatt channels.

Both parties confirmed at ILTM that the partnership was limited to membership benefits only and that there is no plan for an acquisition in the foreseeable future. ”
