Gulf Air wins key accolade

Bahrain national carrier Gulf Air has been independently ranked by UK aviation analysts OAG as the third most punctual airline in 2017, amongst Middle East and African airlines, with an average on-time performance (OTP) of 80.22 per cent.

Gulf Air has held the top spot in recent years for OTP, ranking as the most punctual airline in 2016, amongst GCC airlines. Gulf Air also ranked first among major airlines from the Middle East and Africa for the fifth Annual Airline On-time Performance Service Awards in 2013. Gulf Air’s network currently serves 42 cities in 25 countries. The airline operates double daily flights or more to select destinations across the GCC, Mena region, Indian Subcontinent and Europe.

Last month, the national carrier of Bahrain appointed Captain Suhail Abdulhameed Abdulaziz Ismail as the airline’s new chief operating officer.

As a UK graduate, Captain Ismail started his career with Gulf Air flying the Fokker F27 and later the renowned Boeing 747 fleet that Gulf Air operated in the 1980s.With an aviation career spanning over 35years, he brings a wealth of international aviation experience to his new position. Captain Ismail has worked both at Gulf Air and with other airlines in the region where he managed major fleet expansion projects including managing a fleet composed of 144 aircraft.

 

OFFICIAL AIRLINE

Gulf Air supported the recently concluded Shop Bahrain for the fourth consecutive year as official airline of the nationwide shopping festival. As a strategic partner of Shop Bahrain, Gulf Air provided more than 6,000 airline tickets at discounted prices as raffle prizes.

Shop Bahrain director, Yousef Al Khan, stated: “We are honoured to have Gulf Air’s support for the fourth consecutive year. They have contributed to the continued success of the festival and played an integral role in reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a tourist destination on a regional level.”
