Delaney to become SITE president
Aoife Delaney, director of global sales, Ovation Global, has been elected as SITE (the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence) president for 2017, making her the youngest of four SITE presidents who have been selected from Ovation so far. Delaney will succeed Rajeev Kohli who takes up the presidency of SITE for 2016.
Jena joins Radisson Blu Hotel, Doha The Radisson Blu Hotel, Doha has appointed Indian national Vaishali Jena as its new revenue manager. Armed with six years of experience in the field, a bachelor’s degree in hotel management and an MBA, Jena will drive profit maximisation and business growth for the Qatari hotel.
Banks joins as commercial director JA Resorts & Hotels has appointed Stephen Banks as group commercial director to oversee all sales, marketing and revenue undertakings. Banks comes with more than 20 years of experience in the Middle East and North Africa and has an extensive background in brand management and development.
Mandarin Oriental Doha appoints GMMartin Schnider has been hired as general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Doha, which is scheduled to open in 2016, from Mandarin Oriental, Macau where he has held the position of GM since 2008. Prior to this, Schnider was hotel manager of Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo.
Andorff joins BurJuman Arjaan BurJuman Arjaan by Rotana in Dubai has appointed Ulrike Andorff as its new general manager. With more than 22 years of experience, she has worked in the UK, China, Vietnam, Guam, Mauritius and the UAE. Andorff aims to enhance guest service experience, increase the engagement level of colleagues and drive revenue.
Travelport makes appointments Travelport has appointed Stephen Shurrock (pictured here) as executive vice-president and chief commercial officer, replacing Kurt Ekert. Meanwhile, Mervat Alfy joins as the new country manager for Egypt, with a wealth of regional experience having been Egypt country manager for British Airways the past seven years.
Camia bags gaming appointment Pascal Camia, previously director of Hôtel Hermitage, is now managing director casinos of Société des Bains de Mer. Camia’s duties will include implementing a marketing strategy for developing loyalty of gaming customers and attracting new ones, developing good hospitality practices and adding value to human resources.
Farajat joins Park Inn Al Khobar Park Inn by Radisson Al Khobar Hotel has appointed Mohammed Farajat as its new general manager. Farajat first joined the group in 1993 as a night checker with the Radisson SAS Resort Aqaba-Jordan, moving onto more senior front office roles before finally taking up his first position as a general manager in 2011.
The H Dubai appoints Deldelian The H Dubai has appointed Kevork Deldelian as its new general manager and regional director. A hospitality veteran with 30-plus years in 14 countries, Deldelian brings a wealth of strong Middle East experience to The H Dubai from his previous position as area general manager of Qatar Airways Group Hotels.
Wijkhuijsmoves to Sharjah A 20-year veteran with Starwood, Edwin Wijkhuijs has been appointed complex general manager of three new Starwood Hotels to open at Sharjah, starting from the soon-to-open Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa. Wijkhuijs previously served as area manager for Starwood in Saudi Arabia.
