LUXURY travel specialists Sanctuary Retreats took delivery of Sanctuary Ananda, its new boutique river cruiser in Myanmar (Burma), ahead of schedule, following an 18-month build by local Myanmar shipbuilders. Sanctuary Retreats has has announced that the 2016 programme for the Sanctuary Ananda will go on sale earlier than originally planned, and has been available since October 15, 2014.
In advance of Sanctuary Ananda’s maiden voyage from Mandalay to Bagan on November 15, the ship will host over 100 travel agents and tour operators on a series of inaugural cruises. The ship’s fascinating three-, four- and seven-night cruises on the Ayeyarwady River include a full choice of excursions and unique cultural experiences. Sanctuary Ananda is a luxury river cruise ship for 42 passengers and combines contemporary design with authentic Burmese style. The 21 suites are the largest of any river cruise ship in Myanmar and all have floor-to-ceiling windows plus full balconies. The all-suite Sanctuary Ananda has been built by two Burmese brothers and their team of expert craftsmen at a Myanmar ship. Sanctuary Ananda’s guides have extensive local knowledge and a passion to bring the culture and traditions of the Burmese people to life, with excursions included in the cruise fare.
