Sonesta St George I ... Five star offering on the Nile

THE newest ship of the Sonesta Nile fleet, the Sonesta St George I Nile Cruise, was recently honoured as the first boat on the Nile river to be re-classified with a five star ‘NN’ rating by the Ministry of Tourism.

The rating is part of the ministerial decree adopting New Norms “NN” to classify hotels and boats in Egypt providing adequate international requirements in standard of service, quality of product, physical conditions to safety, security and hygiene, in order to get the star rating.

Built in September 2006, Sonesta St  George I is a 5-deck ship featuring 49 Cabins, nine Presidential Suites and one Royal suite set in picturesque interior designs. In-cabin bathrooms are fitted with a spa unit equipped with steam, Jacuzzi and water massage. The ship prides itself on its five star International cuisine offering a wide variety of à la carte menus as well as breakfast and lunch buffets.

The cruiser also features a full-service spa and fitness centre, restaurant, bars, entertainment and guided excursions. The Sonesta St George I Nile Cruise sails between Luxor and Aswan on three-, four- and seven-night cruises.

In 2013, the ship welcomed on board 725,134 passengers, as of November 30. Key feeder markets include the UK, US, France, Japan, Russia, Belgium, Italy, and the Far East.

The management remains confident in regaining business after facing a slump in business due to the political unrest in Egypt. For this year, the company will offer special promotions to attract and enhance business from the international market.
