Africa Travel Week planned

GLOBAL leader Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE) has announced that it will launch ‘Africa Travel Week’ at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) to run from April 28 to May 3, 2014. The event will comprise three co-located shows – WTM Africa, IBTM Africa and ILTM Africa. IBTM and ILTM will be held from April 28 to 30, and WTM Africa will be held on May 2 and 3, 2014.

DUSIT International, begins its “Year of Expansion” with the announcement of dusitD2 nairobi, the group’s second property on the African continent.

dusitD2 nairobi is located at 14 Riverside, an exclusive development neighbouring high end residences, universities, government offices and embassies, dusitD2 nairobi promises to bring a burst of energy to the area with its attractive mix of all day dining outlets, meeting facilities, spa and terrace bar.

Though this is the company’s second location on the continent, it is its first in sub-Saharan Africa. The company first entered the African market in 2009 with the opening of Dusit Thani Lake View in Cairo, Egypt. This latest venture marks a natural progression from the company’s operations in the Middle East, where the Dusit brand has been firmly established for more than a decade.

Four Seasons plans new Moroccan resort

FOUR Seasons Hotels and Resorts announced a third addition to its growing Moroccan collection with plans to open a new property in the resort town of Agadir on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. The Taghazout Bay project will include several hotels, two golf courses, residential properties and a central village and medina. Four Seasons Resort Agadir will consist of 132 rooms and suites in addition to 56 Private Residences, set on eighteen hectares of prime beachfront located within the Taghazout Bay area.

The new Four Seasons Resort Agadir will be the third Four Seasons property in Morocco following Four Seasons Resort Marrakech which opened in June 2011 and the announcement of Four Seasons Hotel Casablanca which is due to open in late 2014.

 

Phyllis Kandie chosen as patron of AHIF

PHYLLIS Kandie, Kenya’s cabinet secretary for East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism is to be the Patron of the Africa Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF), which will take place in Nairobi on September 24-25, 2013. AHIF brings together the leading international hotel investors in Africa with local operators, ministers, government officials and industry experts, who will discuss all aspects of hotel investment and operation in Africa.

In 2012, AHIF attracted 426 delegates from 38 countries who represented 310 organisations.  

 

Routes Africa Heads to Zimbabwe in 2014

AFTER a successful Routes Africa event in Kampala which, with over 350 delegates in attendance, was the largest Routes Africa event ever, joint Hosts, the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda and Entebbe International Airport, officially handed over to Zimbabwe who were signed earlier this week as the official host destination of the 2014 event.
Building on the success of this year’s event the largest route development forum for the entire African region will take place on June 22-24, 2014 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe.
