
LEBANESE national carrier Middle East Airlines-Air Liban (MEA) has signed an agreement with Golden Tulip Hotels under which it has expanded its Cedar Miles frequent flyer rewards programme.
The agreement was signed by MEA chairman and director general Mohamad El Hout and Golden Tulip’s Mena (Middle East and North Africa) president Amine Moukarzel at the Golden Tulip Serenada Hamra Hotel in the Lebanese capital Beirut. Under the agreement, Cedar Miles members can redeem their miles at any of Golden Tulip’s properties which comprise three well-known brands: Golden Tulip, Tulip Inn and Royal Tulip Hotels. Part of the Louvre Hotels Group, the Golden Tulip chain currently operates more than 230 hotels in 43 countries.“We are adding a new partner to the Cedar Miles programme, and the importance of this co-operation lies in allowing members to increase their miles with every stay at any Golden Tulip hotel across the world,” El Hout said.For its part, Golden Tulip Hotels said it was proud of the alliance with MEA-Air Liban, which offers flights from Beirut to 30 destinations across Europe, Gulf, Middle East and Africa and was delighted to expands its services to its guests through the agreement.Moukarzel said the pact would help Golden Tulip achieve more success in the Mena region and with MEA’s being part of the SkyTeam airline alliance, its would further boost Golden Tulip’s presence with “a major Arab carrier and international airlines”.Gulden Tulip Hotels and Resorts currently operates three hotels in Lebanon: the Golden Tulip Hotel de Ville, Golden Tulip Serenada and Golden Tulip Galleria. It also plans to open the five-star Golden Tulip Jiyeh Marina Resort shortly while a fifth hotel is under construction at Achrafieh.
