Brightwell ... sees potential<Br> in the Gulf

THE Coco Collection unveiled its stunning properties to the Middle Eastern traveller at the last month’s Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, UAE.

Coco Collection is one of the leading groups of luxury resorts in the Maldives. It comprises three main brands in Maldives alongside two hotels, one four-star and one three-star respectively and the company also manages a property in Mauritius.

The company is a subsidiary of Sunland Hotels and launched its first flagship hotel in 2007. In December 2012, it unveiled a refreshed image with the introduction of a new brand logo and revamped corporate identity.

The revamp was part of the group’s aim to further cement its reputation as a trailblazer in stylish, sophisticated yet sustainable hospitality with the objective to offer the brand’s services to a wider, global audience.

Lisa Brightwell, vice president, sales and marketing said: “We see a lot of potential here due to its easy connectivity and access to the Maldives and we have witnessed a lot of bookings from Saudi Arabia and the UAE.”

Being situated in the heart of a rich and thriving marine ecosystem, the group is also pushing towards sustainable practices in its properties, including running and maintaining coral reef.

Apart from the region, Brightwell says the company hopes to attract visitors from other markets such as India and Russia. However, its main source markets are China, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the UK.

The Coco Privé Kuda Hithi Island is the pinnacle of the Coco Collection experience where guests can revel on an entire island alone, with family or friends and enjoy a holiday or break tailored to the finest detail.  It is located on the 1.4 hectare Kuda Hithi Island which is 30 km from the Malé International Airport and has six exclusive villas.

The Coco Bodu Hithi Resort offers exquisite individualistic and authentic experiences surrounded by lush tropical greenery and an abundance of wildlife. The resort has 44 island villas, 16 water villas, 16 escape water villas and 24 escape water  residences.

The Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu Resort, the group’s four-star-plus property, on Dhuni Kolhu Island in Baa Atoll, is described as ‘urban and hippy’ and has 98 villas.

In April, Coco Collection added the Sankhara Villas in Mauritius to its portfolio, the group’s first venture outside Maldives. Situated in the picturesque village of Poste-la-Fayetteon the East coast of Mauritius, the beachfront property comprises of two luxurious villas – Villa Tiara and Villa Almira.

As well as these, there are two more brands under the umbrella of the Coco Collection – the four-star Makunudu Island resort and three-star Biyadhoo Island Resort & Spa.

The group has appointed Gulf Reps to manage its travel trade sales operations across the GCC for all its properties.
