Designed by architects WATG, Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur was built specifically to comply with the Green Building Index (GBI), a Malaysian green building rating system. The hotel has set a very high standard by employing state of the art technologies that use less energy and consume less water, resulting in a smaller environmental footprint on the city’s resources.
All of the hotel’s guestrooms and suites were designed with floor-to-ceiling windows to maximise natural daylight and are specially glazed with a high performance reflective bronze coating to keep heat out. Rooms are equipped with sensors to detect the guest’s presence and adjust room lighting and temperature to offer ultimate comfort while minimising the energy consumption. The common guest areas such as the lobby, restaurants and the Grand Residence also feature floor-to-ceiling windows. Not only does this maximise daylight, it also enables guests to take advantage of the hotel’s expansive views of the city.
For business meetings, the hotel offers six unique function rooms spanning over 3,300 sq m of dedicated meeting and event space, to provide planners with a variety of venue options ranging from private business meetings to grand events. One of the unique features of the hotel’s Grand Ballroom (1,045 sq m) and Grand Salon (620 sq m) are the crystal chandeliers that blanket the entire ceiling. To minimise its energy consumption while prolonging the life span of the light bulbs, the crystal chandeliers were customised and fitted with high efficiency LED lights.
The Grand Residence is a 1,000 sq m signature space that offers an out of the box experience with capacities of 20 to 330 persons. All meetings and events space has been installed with wireless access points for high-speed wireless and broadband Internet access.
