BAHRAIN AIR has announced that its passenger numbers increased 57 per cent in the second quarter this year compared with the corresponding period in 2011. The airline also reported that the average load factor for the second quarter stood at 78 per cent compared with 59 per cent a year earlier.
The average aircraft utilisation also improved by 45 per cent to stand at 13.1 hours per day. The airline attributes this growth to clear improvement in market conditions and the airline’s continued investment in product and services to meet customer needs.
“The last 12 months have been really tough. But there is now clear evidence that the markets are returning,” Bahrain Air chief executive Richard Nuttall said.
“We have used this time to invest in upgrading our systems, our products and our organisation. We are in a much better place than we were 12 months ago,” he added.
“We are determined in our efforts to be Bahrain’s favourite airline. Despite intense competition in the aviation sector and turbulence in the global economy, Bahrain Air’s second-quarter results indicate that the airline is well on track to outperform its forecasts for 2012,” Nuttall added.
