JET Airways has joined the Arab Air Carriers Organisation (ACCO) as the first partner airline of this regional body.
The partnership, which was simultaneously announced in Beirut and Mumbai, will provide Jet Airways and the Arab airline members of AACO, with opportunities of creating synergies through the various joint projects under AACO, in areas such as fuel management, ground services, safety initiatives and training.
Jet Airways CEO Nikos Kardassis said: “With our growing presence in the Middle East, an opportunity to partner with the AACO is an important one. This association is strategic to our continued success in this region. We are indeed looking forward to working with AACO on its various joint projects and initiatives.”
Abdul Wahab Teffaha, AACO secretary general, said: “AACO was able to develop, during the past years, a strong presence amongst associations through the establishment of joint projects, which help member airlines to achieve better economies of scale and scope. Jet Airways is a formidable airline with very high quality of service and expanding global network based in one of the most vibrant and promising markets of the world. The synergies of the co-operation between Arab airlines and Jet Airways will open new horizons for the parties concerned. AACO is proud that Jet Airways has chosen to be the first of its partner airlines.”
And in another first for the the Jet Airways Group the carrier created history in the Indian aviation industry by flying a record two million passengers in May 2011 – the highest number carried by any airline of Indian origin on its domestic and international network.
Jet Airways flew a record 1.55 million guests on its domestic and international network while JetLite flew an equally impressive 0.47 million guests to assist the Jet Airways Group to log this truly unique milestone in the Indian aviation sector.
In the domestic market, the annual holiday season lifted domestic passenger traffic for Jet Airways by 17 per cent over the same period last year. The growth in international passenger traffic saw a similar 17 per cent increase, reflecting growing passenger demand for the airline’s award-winning international product as well as the increasing impact of Jet Airways’ international codeshares and the introduction of new routes plus strategic marketing and network initiatives.
Kardassis said: “Besides helping further consolidate our leadership position in Indian skies, this new milestone of flying two million guests further reiterates the fact that Jet Airways, Jet Airways Konnect and JetLite have all catered to distinct passenger segments. Thus, it has been the group’s ability to fully anticipate customer and market requirements and consequently customise its product to cater to these requirements that has helped Jet Airways stay ahead.”
