Kanoo Travel in Saudi Arabia has won a major travel contract to manage Saudi Aramco's worldwide travel business and related requirements, the second time around. The firm won its first Aramco contract in 1995.
Executive general manager Abdulla Abo Khamseen said the contract, which Kanoo won over 11 international firms, will run for nine years. The contract will be handled in partnership with Rosenbluth International through a programme called Saudi Aramco Global Travel Services (GTS). "Winning the contract again reflects the capability of Kanoo Travel to deal with sophisticated services in the travel industry, particularly those related to a giant company like Saudi Aramco," he said, adding that the contract will serve the travel needs of the 55,000 employees of the state-owned oil firm. Kanoo Travel will manage Aramco's travel business throughout the Gulf while Rosenbluth will be responsible for the other parts of the world where Saudi Aramco operates. Kanoo Travel and Rosenbluth successfully ran the last Aramco GTS contract from 1995 to the present. GTS issues approximately 35,000 tickets a year valued at $30 million.
