TURKISH luxury hotel company Richmond International has set its sights on expansion with plans to move into Syria, Bulgaria, Georgia and Central Asia.
The company, which is part of the Aksoy Group, currently comprises five properties – the Istanbul, Sapanca Nua Wellness & Spa, Ephesus Resort, Pamukkale Spa and Pamukkale Thermal Richmond. It plans to open 12 hotels in Turkey and five outside the country by 2020.
At a conference to announce the launch of the Richmond International Hotel Management Company, general manager Ümit Yaşar Atalay said the group is close to an agreement for a new hotel in Syria and is planning more for neighbouring countries.
He added that, operating under the Aksoy Group, the chain has know-how and experience and can provide feasibility, technical consulting, pre-opening, management contract and management consulting services.
“The aim is to reach total revenues of $250 million and increase the total number of beds from 2,000 to 9,000 in 10 years’ time,” said Atalay.
And Aksoy board member Oktay Orhon said the Group is preparing to invest $100 million this year to open three new hotels in Istanbul under the Richmond name.
