FROM the moment I was met by chauffeured limousine at the airport, I knew my, all-too-brief, stay at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore was going to be something special.
I know five-star luxury is all about service, but this is a hotel where you truly get the feeling nothing is too much trouble for the staff – even down to the late night receptionist who found me a roll of sticky-tape so I could transport my exhibition posters home safely.
The hotel itself is an art-lovers’ paradise with stunning works liberally displayed on the walls, including the oversized pieces by Frank Stella as you walk out to the tranquil outdoor pool.
The guest rooms have recently undergone redecoration by Burega Farnell and offer contemporary, yet timeless style coupled with extreme comfort.
The space has been cleverly used and the neutral shades prove restful whether you have spent your day exploring the ‘Garden City‘ or running from meeting to meeting.
The beds are some of the most comfortable I have come across and the bathroom with rainshower was a relaxing space almost like having your own personal spa.
In line with the hotel’s strong commitment to energy efficiency, energy saving LED lights and bulbs are used throughout in areas such as wardrobes, the bed cove, night stands, sofa uplighter, floor lamps and the honour bar.
The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia is the first hotel in the world to be furnished with wall-mounted 46-inch LED TVs and there is high-speed wireless internet access as well as large work desks with built-in power points and multiple power sockets.
Other features of the new rooms include Intelligent Protocol (IP) phones, as well as iPhones or iPod docking stations at the writing desks.
I stayed in a deluxe Marina Bay room with fabulous views out over the bay and the impressive skyline and was able to use the club lounge which serves a varied selection of snacks and drinks throughout the day.
I also took advantage of the Summer Pavilion, the hotel’s signature restaurant, and was more than delighted with both food and service.
I could go on at length about the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore but it is enough to say there is a reason Ritz-Carlton is one of the world’s best known hotel brands and this is a property which typifies the brand values of ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen in locations and hotels that are second to none.
