Starwood to debut in Ukraine

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has signed an agreement with Budhouse Group to manage a new 167-room Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Zaporozhye, Ukraine’s booming industrial capital.

 

The new property is set to open in the first half of 2011, marking the debut of Starwood Hotels & Resorts in the country.

Part of a mixed-used development project, the hotel will feature a signature restaurant, lobby bar and lounge, destination bar, more than 500 sq m of event and meeting space, a business centre and fitness facilities. Guests will also enjoy beautiful views of the Dnieper River and Khortytsia Island.

 

According to Roeland Vos, president, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa, and Middle East, the hotel marks an exciting milestone for Starwood’s continued growth throughout Eastern Europe.

 

“Reaching out to new frontiers is a focus of our expansion strategy, so we are delighted to partner with Budhouse as we debut the first Starwood hotel in Ukraine,” he said. “Zaporozhye is a major industrial centre with extensive commercial links and the reputation of the Four Points by Sheraton name will assist further positioning this city as an important business destination.”

 

Zaporozhye is located south-east of Kiev on the Dnieper river, the waterway that links Odessa and the Black Sea to the Ukrainian capital. The city boasts a population of more than 800,000 people and hosts a range of industries including steel and car-making. The new Four Points by Sheraton Zaporozhye will open in time for the 2012 UEFA football championship, which will be hosted by Ukraine and Poland.
