IHG bolsters regional management team

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced three new senior appointments across the Mena region. Bastien Blanc (left) has been appointed as the vice-president operations-Middle East. Based in IHG’s office in Dubai, Blanc will be responsible for leading the operations across GCC countries and Levant. Nicolas Craninx has been appointed as director, hotel performance support – Africa. Matthew Tripolone (right), currently the head of development, Australasia, IHG, has assumed the role of vice-president, development, Middle East and Africa. Tripolone helped build a strong pipeline for IHG in the region and played a key role in securing growth of new brands into the region.

Panton joins as director of tennis

The Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort has appointed Mr Sean Panton as Director of tennis. Panton, a British national born in Malawi, has been teaching tennis since 1994. A resident of Phuket for 16 years, Panton was also general manager of Thanyapura, the Phuket International Academy Sports & Leisure Club.

 

DCT Abu Dhabi announces key hires

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has announced two significant new management appointments. Former acting executive director of tourism Sultan Al Mutawa Al Dhaheri has been appointed as executive director of the tourism sector. Al Dhaheri was appointed acting executive director of the tourism sector in 2014. Nawal Rashid Al Hassani, who has been acting director of strategy planning & performance management and director of information technology at DCT Abu Dhabi since 2014 is the new executive director of strategy and planning sector. She has worked for more than 15 years in management in the government sector.

 

 

Pike joins Radisson Blu in DSO

Christopher Pike, formerly the general manager at Hormuz Grand Hotel Muscat, has been appointed general manager of Radisson Blu Hotel Apartments Dubai Silicon Oasis. Pike will be responsible for the opening of the new 229-room property with its two outlets and team of 100 employees.

 

Jumeirah Hilton appoints Toussaint

Hilton Dubai Jumeirah has added to its repertoire of highly qualified, accomplished staff, Sacha Toussaint as the resort’s new beverage manager. He has almost 20 years of experience in the industry, having worked with Grand Hyatt, Emirates Palace and Shangri-La, among others.

 

Balkissoon joins Mövenpick in JLT

Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers has appointed Balveer Balkissoon as the executive chef. With 18 years of experience, Chef Balveer’s culinary expertise comes from the Republic of Mauritius where his family ran restaurants for generations. He has worked for Mövenpick in Mauritius for over five years.

 

Meidinger heads Grand Hyatt Taipei

Grand Hyatt Taipei has tapped veteran hotelier, Jan-Hendrik Meidinger, as its new general manager. The 47-year-old was previously the resident manager at Grand Hyatt Taipei from 2006 to 2010. Most recently he was general manager of The Excelsior, owned by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, in Hong Kong.
