Industry will reach new frontiers in Beijing

The 10th Global Travel & Tourism Summit will take place in Beijing, China from May 25 to 27 under the theme ‘World’s leading industry - reaching new frontiers’.

The summit is the world’s highest-level gathering of travel and tourism industry chairpeople, chief executives and senior government officials, working together to unlock the industry’s significant potential for sustainable development and economic growth across the globe. The event will be hosted by the China National Tourism Administration and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality and is supported by the Beijing Tourism Administration and the Beijing Tourism Group.

The summit will include various sessions including ‘taking stock’ in which travel and tourism experts will discuss the shape and structure of economic recovery, uncertainty in the industry and increased regulation and government intervention. It will highlight new economies such as the green economy and the e-economy.

‘The global tourism economy’ will explore the transformation of China and its rapid growth and expansion. China’s tourism trade and preparations for the future will be examined as well as the investment in people and services as a means for developing the right product in the right way.

The global media industry is undergoing mass transformation including speed, source and soundness of news and information spread worldwide. A special keynote speaker will share insights into the new frontiers for the global media and the implications for the travel and tourism industry.

And there will be a session looking at global demographic shifts and their implications for domestic, inbound and outbound travel as well as the emergence of a new consumer and future scenarios of their needs.

New technology, advancements and their application to the travel and tourism industry will be explored and the winners of the event’s coveted Tourism for Tomorrow awards will discuss sustainable tourism.
