Exhibitors encouraged to go green with sustainability initiatives

Imex is encouraging German hosted buyers to let the train take the strain rather than flying to the show.

This was just one of a host of initiatives announced when Imex head of project development Dale Hudson spoke at the recent Sustainable Events Summit.

Adding that Imex organisers have been working on a few initiatives each year to make the show greener he announced several eco-friendly measures for this year’s event.

These include using Fairtrade tea and coffee and crockery instead of plastic cups and plates.

Electricity will be generated through hyrdopower, lanyards will come from biodegradable plant products, bags and carpets will be made of recyclable polypropylene and badges will be made of recycled paper coated with cornstarch.

The event has also launched the Imex green team which will help promote the initiatives to exhibitors.
