Viewed as the most important international topic nowadays, broadening the green concept and green practices can and should start at no cost, by doing simple things that can start from one’s home.

“From small-scale companies to high-profile organisations, the attention on protecting the environment is widening and reaching a global level,” says Moine Kandil, the general manager of Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi.

And in his view individuals should be accountable for their actions and societies must adapt to climate change and embrace the transformation to clean technologies for better quality lives.

“Unless we all combine to take decisive actions, not taking care of the environment will destroy our one and only planet,” he added.

The Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi has long been targeted with environmental campaigns aimed at achieving a healthier, cleaner and safer environment to sustain our earth.

Green initiatives are being undertaken by both management and staff whereby each and every one focuses on reducing ill effects on the environment and these green practices can positively be used to attract clients and business opportunities.

The Millennium Hotel demonstrates inspiring innovations in which its progressive thinking, inventive policies and pioneering spirit are helping to make the world a greener and cleaner place.

“I tell my staff to conserve energy and use less water both in the office and at home,” says Kandil. “I also urge them to write, copy and print on both sides of the paper and recycle used envelopes and reuse folders and paper clips, use email instead of paper for sending out information, purchase products made in the UAE and not import them, turn off lights when leaving the office anytime, shut off electrical equipment when finishing work, these and many other pieces of advice I try to give my people.”

Recently published reports show nature be responding to human interference with floods, thunderstorms and drought and there are several species in danger of extinction.

Kandil added: “The steps we take today to preserve the planet will have major repercussions on the health and well-being of our children tomorrow, that is why if you and your families can usher in a more earth-friendly lifestyle with small changes, it will certainly have a big impact in the future.”
